  • Dann that display is smooth

  • I like the concept, but yeah, update the camera and, for me personally, the design also 😅

  • Why don't you check out the project ARA phone

  • I mean, i like the idea but it looks really old. And yeah i know its not its main point or idea to look good and fresh

  • *ZACK is too savage!* 😂🤣 *"Computer components have been upgradable from the beginning,* *~unless you own a mac~*

    • Macs are upgradable like the mac pro 1.1-5.5

  • that screen is a blast from the past

  • Apple:👀

  • having the latest hardware on a phone is overrated anyways. I choose actual features like removable batteries over "20% more pooowerr" to watch yt videos, play crappy mobile games and browse social media stuff. For me, 1000+$ phones always look like wasted silicon tbh... (whe only worthwhile feature probably being the camera)

  • Its good but need more improvement

  • _unless you own a Mac_

  • 2:49 ah, this reminds me of the chalkboard scratching effect...

  • My complain is battery . But everything else is nice

  • I've been wanting one of these phones for a long time, unfortunately they're not compatible in the US as far as the bands. Instead, I got a Teracube which has a removable back, great warranty with a $200 price tag. It features a 4,000 milliamp removable battery, dual SIM & MicroSD slot. I have a 512gb card in mine. If they upgraded the CPU, GPU and camera and charged $400 instead of $200 I'd be all over it. Overall, it's a great phone. It's my workhorse for all my podcasts, ebooks, offline maps, music and other heavy storage functions.

  • Do the same test with other phones ( maybe you did already) ... let´s see how they behave!

  • Great review. But I do think grandmothers get a bad rep.

  • Big thing for me is the weight. I'd give up screen size and performance for a lighter phone. My LG G7 hurts my hamds to hold, I have joint problems.

  • I wonder if we can purchase a high quality DAC/AMP for the headphone port module. That would make it a worthwhile purchase for me. Cameras aren't that important for me, and as long as it can run basic apps, I'm in.

  • This should be called anti apple phone. 🍎 ❌ 😂

  • It is the only time I don't feel so hurt when Jerry torture the phone.

  • The dazzling building archaeologically cough because pigeon likely crawl across a amazing bongo. axiomatic, whole barber

  • "unless you are on a mac" only on the left audio channel? inside joke? doesn't macs have stereo speaker?

  • *2:38** 😂*

  • One of the most important places and points on a mobile is the Camera glass, it seems to be a weakness that is found all the time... My new mobile already have scratches on the camera glas, I guess from a rock that I put it up against to standing. Very very sad to see how easily things break. A little plastic can go a long way for protection. It is just sad to see that minor things are not looked at. Did I miss a scratch test on the camera glass beside with the knife? I got a new phone it took one minor drop then the screen died... I now have a new screen but with a dead pixel... Like my LG V20 have handled multiple drops without any issue but it had to die of use, although the motherboard is now in a new mobile of different kind as it was running better in rooted state then the other varient. So in some sense my old LG V20 is still alive... But the LG V20 had the Camera glass issue.... and the glue wears out over time I found out, both the glass for the back Camera and the screen became loose as well, which ended up breaking the screen. Well... But it is alive and running now as a secondary phone. The Fairphone 3+ is now in Denmark, and I might have jumped on that wagon if I had not already bought the Shift 6mq - although.... the 64gb internal kept me from looking further into it. Anyway... Just nothing really on the marked overall, had waited for a Linux phone but... That is still into the future. But it would be nice to actually have root naturally from the beginning! Sick and tired of needing to used hours and hours of time on getting things rooted.

  • You are beating a baby seal! Shame on you, Jerry 😔

  • Fairphone: "Ouch, ouch, ouch." Survived! P.S. Might be my next smartphone. 👍

  • I realy like the idea of a phone you can fix yourself and even if i wasn't good with tech amd creating things this would still be managable:). I think it's a great idea and should be invested into more:).

  • Ha! I loved that little jab at apple:p. I realy can't work with their system and i just don't like the weird exclusivity they have. Not sure if this is a legit thing but i heard they have said that they don't sell phones but lifestyle products.... Yea i don't buy it, in more ways then one:p.

  • This turns me on more than BDSM. 😂 Would buy but I'm hoping their next model has a better camera. Also, I wonder how obsolescent the individual components are since they come with 2 year warranties. Better than flagship products I suppose.

  • ''Computer components have been upgradeable since the beginning.'' ''ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ʸᵒᵘ ᵒʷⁿ ᵃ ᵐᵃᶜ''

  • I'm thirty seconds in and I gotta say man I love your voice. I could go to sleep to this

  • I know this is being needy but can you do a water test after the teardowns on phones from now on

  • Computer parts are upgradable. Apple: yeah let me do the "innovation" thing...

  • IMO the cutter test is pretty pointless...everything non gorilla got scratched by cutters! Btw the specs too weak, could charge 50-100 usd more for better chipset and cameras

  • Great review commentary. I hope the market will accept these types of fair products

  • "we haven't seen back covers in years" Motorola: "am I a joke to you?"

  • In from Germany an owne the FP3 for 1 Years. I the only problem in this time was that the connectors from the modules have disconnected sometimes. But the solution was pretty esey, just glue a little piece of stuff like a T-shirt over the connectors.

  • Great concept, but I won't buy one until they make the processor upgradable. In my opinion, that should be the very first upgradable component, otherwise one has to stick with old, insecure Android versions.

  • Ez

  • 2:39-2:40 unless you’re on the mac ! lol i thought my speakers went out for a second

  • Got it, love it, and will upgrade it for my birthday. Just the idea of being able to upgrade the hardware on a phone (not being the battery or storage)!

  • Unless you want a Mac lol

  • A great phone - that may have been a close contender - had i known about it when i got my phone. I do wish they also had people that were better at design - so it would not look like a boring plastic brick. If you go sustainable and expensive for that reason .. you can also go for better materials like stainless steel and a bit more daring shapes and colours.

  • The modular concept ist awesome, I wish it would become more common in the smartphone world. Imagine if you have the iPhone 11 and could just upgrade the camera to the iPhone 12 model. Now that would be environmentally friendly, you greedy Cupertino hypocrites.

  • I bet Julias Assange and Snowden use this phone.

  • do ram and internal storage can be replaced?

  • This would be good product for 100€ nlg over 400$

  • Try Shiftphone too

  • Computer components have been upgradable since the beginning. Unless you want a Mac.

  • Man, you broke the rog 5 but not this phone. 😬😬😬😬

  • Hey makker je bent gekoloniseerd

  • I'm buying it instead of S21 Ultra. No slave trade used to source lithium for my phone, and also SCREW Samsung for removing headphone jack

  • I really really like the idea but sadly it‘s just not up there. It has hardware from 2 years ago and the design is generic. If they would make a more premium version of it with the same idea I might be interested but as it stands today I have to pass on that one. But as always, great video. Thanks

  • "The flames have once again spoken and revealed all."

  • That's a bad phone

  • Waterproofing and a better camera and the other manufacturers will have to keep up. This is the type of innovation we need.

  • Incredibly bad customer service with fairphone. Mine and the ones of two friends came in damaged (microphone not working properly, touchscreen malfunctioning etc.) Just send it back right? Wrong. The website states to get in touch with them per telephone or email and follow their instructions to get the refund. Sadly nobody answers the calls or emails. IN DAYS! wtf fairphone??? To scam the customers into a broken phone and deny refund. Never seen anything like this before. Avoid at all costs.

  • You are definitely a biased liberal

  • I'm watching this on my Fairphone. It hurts my soul when he scrathes it all over the place 😫

  • iMac components were upgradable

  • *god i wish i was from continental europe right now*

  • Any long term user here? Want to buy the phone but dont know how the phone performs after a year.

  • “Nerds on the street know the difference” Ladies and gentlemen I am that nerd.

  • 4:11 Ears be like - *It's a good day for us*

  • 4:35 They had us in the first half, not gonna lie

  • so regarding the camera. i think its best to have just one good camera with one good lens. and maybe latest hardware.

  • well well well. im someone who buys gaming phones for a living and i might just buy this because of its modularity repairability and possible upgradability.

  • I can literally buy FOUR phones with same level spec for price of this shit.

  • Check Out the Shift Phone

  • this is literally something we could do just 4 or 5 years ago. F***ing programed obscolence

  • Probably make a decent work phone. If it had a better chipset I'd buy it for emulation but just no use for it rn :( hope it does well though I love the idea.

  • That took the 6 hardness tool really well

  • i would actualy buy this i dont want to use the newest phones cus why the hell would i buy another phone each year and if a new version comes out you can just get the parts you want

  • It's almost look like blackberry Z10 assembly

  • It hurts to see you damaging a perfectly good phone. But I am impressed by the phone, and if this helps to spread the good word of waste reduction, so be it 😃

  • if it werent ugly as hell i would buy one

  • Fairly cool

  • Perfect for people that use mobiles for work imo. Business can buy it and keep it between employees too.

  • i have a feeling that thí type of phone can be the future of this technology scence, which leaning toward the computers scence

  • Damn, I'm late.

  • Thats a very good concept

  • Oh this reminds me of Project Ara. I've been waiting for it to come out but apparently google gave up of it.

  • If they could get less bezel, I’d buy it. I need a good phone that still has a removable battery

  • I think they should try to make it more modern because a $500 dollar phone should have things like multiple cameras and less bezels on the screen. Really the only two things that break on most phones are batteries and screens, and I think that they could make a version of this phone that makes both of those things very easily replaceable while still maintaining a more modern feature set.

  • Better than rog phone i guess

  • Major cell phone manufacturer could make an exceptional repairable phone and it would be a marketing highlight

  • Amazing phone. Better than apple or other expensive phones

  • Doesnt include charger to reduce waste. Forces you to order a seperate charger with seperate extra packaging and waste produced by delivery. Yea no.

  • My wife owned one. sadly she was annoyed by the poor performance pretty quickly.

  • Need also a Faircar, Fairfridge, Fairoven, Fairvacuum and so on...

  • This is the only phone that I didn't care about it when you starts scratching the frame.

  • It actually looks cool

  • One camera is fine just make it better and add a better screen and a faster CPU more RAM more memory. I would pay a thousand dollars knowing I can replace everything that goes bad for the next 10 years.

  • It's cool, but I'd be anxious about accidentally breaking it. They should make the next one out of metla

  • It's cool, but I'd be anxious about accidentally breaking it. They should make the next one out of metla

  • Watching this on my Fairphone 3+ makes me look for a thumbs up on the back :D

  • See this is how phones should be looks like this could be a new backup

  • now you can back only the back panel and the side cover and like new again....

  • I'm always unlucky with the release dates of these phones being only one or two years after I bought another phone. So when they got released, I already had a decent working phone (especially now with Blackberry KeyOne Black from 2018), and when I needed a new one the last generation of Fairphones is slightly outdated (about in last quarter of production cycle). For now I just hope my Blackberry is going to last some more years! btw this channel helped making my decision on it ;)

  • Now all manufacturers need to come to stabdarts agreement and we can build our own phones.

  • Wish it was priced much lower, more in the $200-$300 kinda range
